    - May 21 : The Sound Circle visits Leiden! Speakers include Stuart Davis. Four talks will also be presented at the Manchester Phonology Meeting. Sadly, I cannot make it this year...

    - Feb 2 : The Linguistics in the Netherlands-day, an informal one-day conference with 90+ talks. My last meeting as the Secretary of the General Linguistics Society of the Netherlands
    - Jan 17 : Very nice to visit NIAS again, where I am invited to talk with the evaluation committee of this institute
    - Jan 11 : A delegation from Shenzhen University is visiting; the visit was prepared by Hongyan Wang. Fang Bao is helping out as an interpreter and host for the delegation
    - Jan 9 : Finishing an overview article on English phonetics and phonology publications in 2006 for the Year's Work in English Studies ("a qualitative narrative bibliographical review of scholarly work"). It's my tenth year for YWES! Sorry I'm so late this time!
    - Jan 8 : My friend and colleague Sang Jik Rhee (Chungnam) is visiting the International Office in Leiden, the IIAS and of course LUCL. He will organise an important conference next year
    - Jan 1 : Arriving back from Bj. Holidays with twins in Wijchen
    - Jan :
    Should still be reading Mathilde Jansen's (Meertens Institute) dissertation on the Ameland dialect. Supervisors: Frans Hinskens and Marc van Oostendorp
